what we do

We have seven employees with over 70 years of combined experience in the industry.  Two of our engineers are registered in mechanical engineering and three engineers are registered in electrical engineering.  The Chong Group is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, AABC Commissioning Group and is an EPA ENERGY STAR Partner.  Through our involvement with these organizations, we provide LEED building certification, Certified Building Commissioning, and ENERGY STAR Benchmarking and Building Labeling.

The Chong Group is Hawaii’s leader in ENERGY STAR Building Labeling.  Responsible for the majority of the ENERGY STAR Building Labels awarded in Honolulu since 2004, Michael has provided assistance to building owners and operators to establish and meet their ENERGY STAR goals.  He is also a frequent speaker providing expertise on the topic of ENERGY STAR at events including the Green Hotel Forum, Hawaii Building, Facilities & Property Management Expo and private company engagements for ResortQuest and ABM.

Michael Chong

Michael Chong, president of The Chong Group, is licensed in both mechanical and electrical engineering. Mr. Chong has over 30 years of experience as a consulting engineer. During this time, Mr. Chong has worked on a variety of projects in Hawaii and Japan.

Jennifer Chong

Comptroller

Jennifer has been with The Chong Group for since 2013. With a strong foundation in social sciences, Jennifer brings a unique perspective to The Chong Group, integrating a deep understanding of societal dynamics into strategic business practice. She is responsible for accounts receivable, company financials and human resources.

Gene C. Albano

PE Senior Project Manager

Gene has over 30 years of professional engineering experience, including managing a 30+ staff located in Honolulu and Manila.  His primary role is design quality assurance, and control and business operations. He has designed and managed projects internationally in the USA, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, China, Oceana, and Diego Garcia.

Tricia Santos-Heinrich

Director of Project Management

Tricia has over 10 years of experience with a comprehensive skill set across various domains of electrical engineering, specializing in building services design. She has made substantial engineering contributions on projects spanning diverse locations, including the Philippines, USA, Qatar, Australia and United Kingdom.

Berna Pangilinan

BIM Coordinator/Designer

Berna has over 21 years of experience in coordination and design. She began her career in the telecommunication engineering industry, preparing designs for Globe-Ericsson, Digitel, Alcatel, Globe, Digitel – Ericsson, Smart – Ericsson and SMC – Ericsson. For the last 7 years, Berna has worked primarily in the Australian built environment engineering industry as a project BIM Coordinator and second-in-charge of an electrical building services production team.

Kristine Resurreccion

Mechanical Engineer

Kristine has over 8 years of professional engineering expertise. Tine specializes in mechanical design for building services and related work systems. She has designed projects across the USA, United Kingdom, and the Middle East, as well as engaging in design and construction administration in the Philippines.

Rose Ann Geneciran

Electrical Engineer

Rose Ann has 8 years of experience in electrical design and Building Information Modeling (BIM). She has contributed to a wide range of projects in the Philippines, Hawaii and various locations across the United States, applying her technical expertise, software proficiency, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary projects.
